At long last it is finally here, the premiere of “Obi -Wan Kenobi.” This show is the most important Star War content since The Rise of Skywalker was released in 2019. This show will single handedly dictate the future of Star Wars, and the hype surrounding it has reached extreme heights. If this show flops I will not know what to do with myself. If they ruin the any established character in this show I will be in ruin. However, positive thoughts, right?
To get everyone caught up, the show will be taking place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. For timeline reference, Kenobi takes place between “The Bad Batch” and “Rebels.” Anakin Skywalker has now fully become Darth Vader and is fully devoted to the dark side and the Emperor. Kenobi has become a nomad that is living on Tatooine protecting one of the last remaining hopes for the Jedi, Luke Skywalker. As we know from A New Hope, he’s being raised on the Lars homestead.
The Inquisitors have been heavily featured in the trailers, which indicates that they’ll have a prominent role in this show. Inquisitors are a group of fallen Jedi that are tasked with finding and killing remaining Jedi post-order 66.
What do I expect to see from this show?
I’m expecting a lot of sadness. This show will probably make us re-live order 66…AGAIN. I am hopeful for a Qui-Gon force ghost or voice appearance. I believe this show will display the building blocks for Obi-Wan’s learning of the world between worlds and force ghosts.
Maybe, we will even get a Yoda appearance. The meeting between old master and padawan will also bring more sadness. In addition to cameos bringing sadness, I believe this show will heavily focus on Obi-Wan trying to figure out where it all went wrong and truly learn and understand what a Jedi really is. They are not generals, law enforcement, or clone wars era “peacekeepers.” Obi-Wan will go through a lot of difficult challenges and trails both physically and mentally, which will allow him to see the bigger picture on what a Jedi really is. Finally, the sword through the heart will be when Kenobi sees his old padawan in the black suit of armor. As we will be getting a battle between Kenobi and Darth Vader at some point in this show. The emotions that Obi-Wan will feel will be knee-jerking. This will be such a powerful scene and I can’t wait for it.
From order 66 to Obi-Wan connecting with Qui-Gon, to the face-to-face meet up with Vader this show will be a gut-wrenching show for diehards like myself.
I have been waiting for this show for a long time and its finally here. There will be six, one-hour long episodes that I need now.
I have hope that Disney knows that they are doing with this show.
