I’ve done multiple articles about sports trading cards, but now let's take a look at the famous trading card company Pokémon. These cards have arguably been at the forefront of trading cards, and have opened the door for so many different cards.
Pokémon has been celebrating their 25th Anniversary all year, releasing a slew of different products. But, they have just released their most interesting card-set of the year. In honor of their 25th Anniversary, they will be releasing a set of cards with reprints, and full-art versions, dating back to when the cards first came out. When I heard the news, I was immediately intrigued, and I’m sure all fans of Pokémon cards will be, as well.
First off, It’s crazy to think that Pokémon cards have been such a large part of society for 25 years. The cards debuted in Japan in 1996, but it wasn’t until 1999 that they made their way to the United States. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, but here we are and Pokémon cards continue to burst in popularity year-in and year-out. As I detailed in a prior article, the pandemic only increased the buying and selling of cards.
The 25th Anniversary Pokémon Celebrations Set can be best categorized as a 50-card mini set. But, the set is split in half. The first 25 cards in the set are all brand new cards that contain legendary Pokémon and recreations of famous Pikachu cards. I think that’s really interesting, and should present any card sellers with some value. The other 25 in the set are simply reprints of other famous Pokémon cards. However, don’t be surprised if you land some newer cards in the pack.
Another cool element to this card set is that all the cards are stamped with the 25th Anniversary symbol. That was a nice little touch, and only increases the cards value.
Each of these cards hold different values, it truly differs from card-to-card. But, currently, The 25th Anniversary reprint of the Charizard card is the most valuable in the set right now. This card alone can resell for around $160.
Another card that I like in this set, is the Umbreon Star card. This card sells for around $75, which I think is a pretty good deal. If you get your hands on either of these, then that’s a win for sure. There are so many different cards to look at when it comes to The 25th anniversary set.
For all of the Pokémon fans out there, you do not want to miss this!
