Time truly flies…
It feels like it was just yesterday that we got the announcement about, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” back in 2020. However, we are now at the midway point for season one.
Overall, my reaction is that I am very happy with the show, so far. The development of the characters has been perfect, in my opinion. We have a very good plot to build upon for the upcoming episodes. We also have some unanswered questions, that should be answered in the coming episodes. Although, we did get a lot answered in the last episode.
But, overall, I am very excited for the rest of the season.
So far, the main questions have been will a Bad Batch inhibiter chip activate? Who is Omega? Where is Rex? Who hired Cad Bane and Fennec Shand? Will the Bad Batch rescue Crosshair? Where are all of the Jedi and clones that we know are alive during this time? Out of these 6 questions, we have 4 of those answered.
First of all, we now know about thee Bad Batch’s inhibiter chips. All of their chips were removed with the help of their old pal Rex. Going back to the Clone Wars, we know that Rex got his removed with the help of Ahsoka. From that we know, Rex learned how to get the chips out of any clones head. With his help the Bad Batch are free from the control of the Empire.
One of the biggest questions going into the show was, who is Omega? Last episode finally answered this long awaited question. Omega has an exact copy of Jango Fett’s DNA, just like Bobba Fett. With Bobba being M.I.A. this is the only chance the Kaminoans have to keep their cloning process going. This is why Omega is so important to the Kaminoans because without her they are toast. Especially with empire’s plan to not use clones anymore. Omega is the Kaminoans last hope.
Knowing the answer about Omega we also found out who hired both Cad Bane and Fennec Shand. This is kind of confusing, but let’s dive into it.
Lama Su, the Prime Minister of Kamino, hired Cad Bane to find and capture Omega, so that they can capture her DNA. Nala Se, the lead scientists of Kamino, hired Fennec Shand to find and capture Omega to keep her away from Lama Su. We know at this point that Lama Su just wants her DNA and then he wants Omega dead. Nala Se does not want Omega dead. They worked together for so long and doesn’t want her friend dead.
Finally, we get into the 2 unanswered question that I have. The first question I have is will the Bad Batch rescue Crosshair? Personally, I think we will see a Crosshair redemption during the season finale. I believe this will happen during the much-anticipated Clone uprising. The Clone uprising is a fight between the clones and the Empire in which the clones find out they are being replaced.
My final unanswered question is where are all of the living Jedi and clones? To recap we know that the following Jedi are alive: Kanan Jarrus, Cal Kestis, Quinn Lin Voss, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda. Here is what we know.
Obi wan is living somewhere on Tatooine watching over baby Luke. Yoda is learning more about the force from Qui Gon Jinn on Dagobah. Jarrus, Cal, Quinn and Asoka are off somewhere in the galaxy trying to make it in a new world. That’s all we know for those Jedi.
For the clones that we know survived the list is shorter: Rex, Gregor and Wolf.
We know Rex is off to rendezvous with someone after removing the chips in the Bad Batch. We do not have any leads on Gregor and Wolf. . Personally, I believe we will get an answer to all of the whereabouts of the Clones. The Jedi on the other hand we probably won’t get any answers. That’s my guess.
As we enter the second half of the season, I am looking forward to get my remaining questions answered. I am very excited to see how it all ends.
Do we get a second season? Will everyone just die? What will happen to Omega? These are all second half questions that I hope we answer.
This season has had some highs and lows, but I believe we are going to get the usual spectacular season ending that Dave Filoni has always delivered us.
