One more Walking Dead episode in the books and you guessed it, we got another montage for the opening scene for this episode. This time we got a montage of mostly Maggie’s journey to this point because she is the main focus in this weeks episode. I hyped this episode up a lot and it mostly lived up to the expectations. I give “Outpost 22” a four out of five stars. The only reason why I didn’t give it a full five is because there was not as much action as I thought there was going to be and a lot of talking with the group. Although, I get why you can’t have a lot of action all throughout the episode but some emotional moments were too dragged on. Also a side note, I get the group lost all of their kids and they don’t know where the Commonwealth brought them to, but Maggie not being able to kill the child walker in the beginning of the episode made no sense to me. To this point, she is one of the strongest characters that we have on this show through all of her loss in the previous 10 seasons, but not killing that walker was a weak point to me. And don’t give me, it reminds me of Hershel Jr, and she doesn’t want to kill it. I get why she was emotional at that point, but she has to do whatever she needs to in order to survive.
Negan, Ezekiel, and Kelly Get Sent to a Railyard
We know where the group that got drugged was sent to. Most of the group on the bus was split into two, one team going to another location (I assume Outpost 22), and one staying at the railyard. The only important character that was sent to the other location was Negan’s wife, Annie. Negan, Ezekiel, and Kelly stayed at the railyard and was forced into hard labor to get their status back in the community in order to see their family and friends again. Negan will have to figure out a way to get Annie back and next episode he will put that plan into action. Kelly wanted to just go and run, but saw that anyone that tried to escape the railyard were shot on sight and made sure to be killed before they could get too far. As a result, Negan and Ezekiel were forced to work together to develop a plan to get out of there. They have mostly avoided each other to this point because of Negan’s actions as a Savior to the Kingdom. This was hashed out through their conversation of Ezekiel never forgetting what Negan did to the Kingdom and he will never forgive him. Negan explains to him that he isn’t doing it for him anymore and instead, his wife and soon to be child. We all know Negan will survive to the end, but will Kelly and Ezekiel. I don’t think everyone that was sent to the railyard will make it out alive and there will be deaths on the table next episode.
Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Rosita, & Gabriel Look for the Others
Daryl and Carol are on the run to catch the train to look for the others. Maggie, Rosita, and Gabriel were also drugged but escaped the Commonwealth truck before they were sent to the railyard. Maggie got separated from the other two but they all reunited by the end of the episode. Daryl and Carol also reunited with the three of them, trying to catch the train. They killed all of the Commonwealth soldiers in their path, successfully taking over the train in the process. Their only plan was to take the train to the end of the map, to find their kids and the rest of the group. While trying to take over the train, Daryl also saw that Connie was on the train so he rescued her as well. I thought he was going to be reckless Daryl to do anything that he wanted to in order to get Connie back, but Carol stopped him from going too far into the dark side, like she did in season 9 and 10. Carol told him to remind himself that “You can’t save anyone if you are dead”, and he successfully saved Connie in the process. With the group mostly all together again, Maggie had to figure out where the train was going to. She radioed back to the Commonwealth, asking where it was going. They gave her directions to the outpost that the group was going to, and this was called “Outpost 22.” Outpost 22 looked familiar, but we all know that is old Alexandra, and if you need anymore evidence, the Alexandra safe zone sign is still on their front gates. This community is now used to process everyone that is in the Commonwealth and new members that want to join. Maggie develops a plan to go into Alexandra to save their kids and the rest of the group before it is too late, and kill anyone they have to that stands in their way.
