Rick Grimes will be returning for the series finale of The Walking Dead. We haven’t seen Rick Grimes when he blew up the bridge and was sent away to the CRM in a helicopter with Jadis in season 9 episode 5. Rick Grimes is slated to return when he stars in his own trilogy that is hitting the big screen. Unless this is just a ploy for them to film some movie teaser trailer with Rick and company in it, I really think he will return on the series finale. Nothing would be the perfect ending if Rick walks through Alexandra’s gates just to see Daryl’s and Judith’s reaction and then it just fades to black. If you aren’t convinced that he is actually returning here’s why you might be swayed in that direction…
A recently surfaced Instagram picture from “@Kingsuh1018”, is a fan with Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon). The cover of the final script was released a few days ago and AMC is filming the final episode in Atlanta right now. Why would Andrew Lincoln comeback to the United States if he wasn’t returning on the final episode? If it was for a Walking Dead wrap up party, he wouldn’t have been here so early. However, I do not rule out that he might just be in a flashback scene or a show wrap up scene at the end of the show. Just his voice might be used in the series finale too. No matter how big or small the scene that Rick Grimes will be in, Walking Dead fans should be head over heels that he is going to be returning in the first place!
This paves the way for more characters to return for the series finale. If Andrew Lincoln is sniffing around the set this early, this can fuel the speculation that Michonne (Danai Gurira) will return in some form too. The Walking Dead fan in me is really sad that the show is finally ending after 12 years. However it is bittersweet. I am excited for the future of The Walking Dead universe with how they wrap up Fear The Walking Dead, if they tie it into the main show, the Daryl and Carol spinoff show, Tales of The Walking Dead, and the Rick Grimes movies. The most popular show on AMC is finally ending but the future is going to be bright for The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead will still live on and will not be going anywhere in the near future.
