The NFL Draft is a little over a week away, and as usual, the quarterback carousel is the lead story.
This draft class is highlighted by five quarterbacks, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones. All of which seem like a virtual certainty to be selected in the top-10. It’s not out of the question, that there could be up to four quarterbacks selected in the top-five.
Trevor Lawrence is the clear-cut choice to be the first-overall pick, and Zach Wilson seems like the likely candidate to be selected second-overall.
After that, there are a lot of question marks, when it comes to possible landing spots for the remaining quarterbacks.
Now, most people anticipate that Trevor Lawrence has the highest ceiling, but he’s not the most interesting quarterback in the class. The most interesting quarterback in the class is Mac Jones.
Look, I’m not saying Mac Jones will be the best quarterback in this draft class, but he is by far the most interesting and most intriguing prospect.
The reason simply is the controversy surrounding Jones.
It seems like everyone is split on Jones, some people think he’s a bust waiting to happen, while others think he has some real upside. There is no consensus opinion on him, and I find that fascinating.
Some fall in love with his accuracy, leadership skills, and decision-making. While others, feel that his lack of athleticism will be and his downfall, and his superior skill-position players were responsible for all of his success.
Both sides are really dug in, and only one side can be correct. I have never seen a quarterback prospect with this sort of differences in opinion.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, one AFC Scout had this to say about Jones:
While an NFC Scout had this to say:
"Guy's accurate. He's a friggin' winner. He's a real dude.”
Mac Jones will generate a lot of buzz come draft day. Will he be drafted third overall? Or, will he be the quarterback that tumbles down the draft board?
While all of the quarterbacks in this draft class are unique in their own individual ways, Mac Jones’ NFL career will be one absolutely worth paying attention to.
