During this edition of GB Kicks, I’ll breakdown the top 5 rookie basketball cards to invest in 2021.
1. 2018 Luka Doncic Rookie Cards
Luka Doncic is the real deal so it’s really no surprise that Luka rookie cards are one of the best investments in regards to modern sports cards. At only 22 years old, Luka Doncic has already proven to be a superstar in the league, and the sky is the limit when it comes to his potential. Some could make argument that at age 22 Doncic’s development is ahead of LeBron James’ when he was 22.
2. 2018 Trae Young Rookie Cards
Card Collectors love Trae Young right now. Similarly to Luke Doncic, Trae Young’s future in the NBA is arguably just as bright. His card prices have gone up considerably but, only just a fraction of Luka’s prices, and my formula believes there is still real value to be had with Trae Young in his cards. The Hawks current playoff run is only the beginning for Trae Young.
3. 2015 Nikola Jokic Rookie Cards
Nikola Jokic Is definitely a card you want to invest in. In my opinion, he is a top 10 player in the league right now. But, surprisingly his rookie cards cost less than Zach LaVine’s. In my opinion that’s disrespectful, to the reigning MVP award winner. The Joker deserves better and hopefully the hobby will soon realize how undervalued his cards are and take advantage.
4. 2020 LaMelo Ball Rookie Cards
I like LaMelo Ball as a player so much, but investing into his cards is a little more risky. But, it could have a huge payoff potential. In my opinion, I believe if LaMelo didn’t go down mid season with an injury, I think he could have challenged Luka Doncic for the best rookie season in the last decade. He’s that special of a player, and will take the Charlotte Hornets to relevancy.
5. 2017 Jayson Tatum Rookie Cards
Jayson Tatum is coming off a strong offensive season, as he had career highs in nearly every offensive category. With Tatum only being 23 years old, he is considered to be one of the best emerging stars to invest in.
