*WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS*
In a galaxy filled with pain, crime, and terror, the importance of family has been a reoccurring theme throughout the latest Star Wars shows. It seems like, Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be continuing that pattern.
In this episode the Bad Batch meet up with their friend Cut Lawquane, a Clone deserter that we meet in the Clone Wars.
Cut welcomes the Bad Batch into his house with open arms. He tells them that he knows what has happened with Order 66 because Captain Rex had stopped by the day before. As the story progresses Cut shows the bunch how to disappear from the eyes of Government. He also gives Hunter some parenting tips, as the Bad Batch continues to watch over Omega. Cut’s wife, Sue Lawquane told Hunter that you can’t react like a solider to a child because “Children will always find ways of getting into trouble, Hunter, it’s what they do, protecting them is what we do.” Both Cut and Sue showed Hunter how to raise Omega as a parent.
Sound Similar?
We are getting a lot of call backs to The Mandalorian. The Bad Batch tried to help Cut and his family get off world, but the clone troopers were enforcing the need of chain codes. For a deserter such as Cut, it would make life much more difficult to leave the planet. Cut and Sue know that they need to leave the planet because the Empire is locking down everything. If he is found, then he will be either jailed or killed, so he needs to get his family off the planet.
So, the Bad Batch were tasked with stealing chain codes, which would give Cut and his family the ability to leave on a transport.
Tech and Echo were in charge of getting the chain codes for the family. Tech acts like the human version of C3PO, and his problem solving ability has helped the Bad Batch, tremendously. After a small skirmish with the Clones, Tech and Echo are able to gain access of the chain codes for the family.
As Cut and his family were about to leave, Hunter told Omega that it would be the best thing for her to go with Cut and his family. This would give Omega stability in her life, and a loving, caring, family. It appeared like Omega reluctantly was willing to go with Cut and his family. But, to continue the trend of the show, Omega defies Hunter and winds up back with the Bad Batch.
I am very happy that Omega is still with the bunch. However, I want to see more of a different plot compared to the Mandalorian. We are seeing a very similar plot and theme so far and I would like to see them diverge in the coming episodes. Overall, a very nice meaningful episode and maybe Rex is in the next one?
Hopefully, I can’t wait to see my guy again.
