The Bad Batch is set to release to release on May 4th, 2021, and I could not be more excited for this new Star Wars show. After season 7 of The Clone Wars debuted on Disney Plus last year, Star Wars has not failed to deliver the best possible content. Season 7 of The Clone Wars was by far the best animated series that Disney’s Star Wars has put out. However, my anticipation for The Bad Batch is through the roof.
So, let’s go back to Season 7 of The Clone Wars where the bad batch was originally introduced. Season 7 episodes 1-4 gave us the introduction to a squad of genetically modified clones, called clone force 99 and they called themselves the Bad Batch.
Clone force 99 consisted of 4 clones named Sergeant Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech. They all had a special genetic difference from the standard clones. These clones were sent in to help the Republic clear out the Separatists on the planet of Anaxes. Their story arc lasted for 4 episodes and the arc was one of the best in the The Clone Wars. There debut was well received by Star Wars fans and we all wanted more of the Bad Batch.
The trailer for The Bad Batch was shown to Star Wars fans on December 10th and, oh boy we got a lot from it.
From the trailer we can see that we will follow the Bad Batch through the transition of the Republic to the Empire. This means that we might get another angle of Order 66 and Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side. I loved the side of Order 66 we got in season 7 of The Clone Wars with Rex and Asoka. I am in the boat of the more Order 66 the better; it might be heart breaking to watch, but I want every angle of it.
There have been a lot of rumors that the Bad Batch will somehow not execute order 66 due to their genetic mutations. This theory arose from a part in the trailer that shows the bad batch on Kamino shooting at other clones. I think that it is definitely a possibility that they have defective inhibiter chips, but I am not going to speculate. I don’t like to build up hope for something that is all based on speculation. Don’t get me wrong I would love to see it, but I am going to wait to watch it before I get to excited
Overall, I am very excited for The Bad Batch. I think this is going to either be as good as Season 7 of The Clone Wars or even better than it. I have loved all of the animation shows that Star Wars has done, and I think this is just the next installment of their great animation legacy.
