Is season 10C finally over yet? I don’t know about you but I am getting sick and tired of all of these unnecessary episodes and filler content. I know these 6 episodes are supposed to be “extra” content but I didn’t know how much I would not enjoy them. You could have broke down the last 4 episodes at least in half or even more. Episode 21, “Diverged” gives you the fan favorite characters of Daryl and Carol, so at least there is a positive there. This episode picks up after episode 18, “Find Me”, after Daryl and Carol have their argument at the end of the episode. This was the first time that I have seen Daryl visibly upset with Carol and the first time they fought. I want to see if there is any tension at all or if it is awkward in anyway. This is the last episode with actual story because the season 10C finale, episode 22 is all about Negan’s storyline so we will most likely get more Reaper’s content in this episode, unless they were just filler for episode 17. I am going in this episode with no expectations and no hype at all so hopefully “Diverged” will not let me down like all the rest of the episodes.
The first promo we get is from AMC after episode 20 and the credits. There is not a lot to go off of in this promo. All we get is Daryl and Carol tension after their fight in episode 18. You see Daryl going one way in the path, probably to keep looking for Connie and Carol going the other way in the path. You see in the trailer that Carol returned home to Alexandra so Daryl went back into the woods to find Connie. You also see Carol hugging Jerry so she probably just told her what happened and Jerry feels bad for her. Daryl at the end of the promo is in a pickle with the zombies around him but if you know Daryl, he is immortal so you know he will get out of anything. You also see at the end of the promo Carol in an abandoned building but I think she goes to the building before she returns home.
The next promo we get is from AMC’s talk show about The Walking Dead, Talking Dead. You see Daryl and Carol walking to the fork in the road where Daryl goes left and Carol goes right. You see them talking, which is good, but you definitely still feel that it is a little awkward. Carol reassures him that everything is okay and Daryl even offers to bring her back on his bike but Carol declines. A funny scene happens at the end where you see Dog in the middle of the two paths, not sure who to follow. He seems like the middle man of this relationship. He ultimately picks Carol’s way, which was surprising to me since he is Daryl’s dog and he trusts him the most out of the group. Daryl even says, “thanks”, after he sees Dog pick Carol’s way. Daryl probably doesn’t care too much that Dog picked Carol’s way since Daryl knows Dog will be okay either way and return home anyways, but Daryl is still a little hurt that Dog didn’t go with him.
The third promo we get is from AMC’s Youtube channel. Again, there is not a lot to go off of but you see Carol and Jerry talking about different tasks that are getting done in Alexandra to get it back to the way it was. Jerry tells her to do something else since a lot of the tasks are being done already. Carol doesn’t know what to do though. She seems out of place and feels left out of all the action. Maybe this is where she finds the abandoned building, so maybe I was wrong in the first promo. Or maybe she goes back out and find where Daryl is and returns with both of them, together. (Side note, they better not kill off Jerry in season 11 because who doesn’t like Jerry… Like come on, calling Carol dude, and look at his hat!)
The last promo we get is the opening scene from “Diverged.” The end of the scene is the same scene we get from the Talking Dead promo with Daryl and Carol splitting up and Dog choosing Carol’s way so I won’t be talking about that anymore. The beginning of the scene we get Daryl and Carol, obviously still being tense from their fight, but they will always love each other. You see Daryl and Carol talking, which is good that they aren’t silent. You also see Daryl helping Carol opening her water bottle with a multitool and Carol giving Dog some water. Even though they fight, you know they will always will be there for each other. Their on screen chemistry with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride is off the charts and bounce of each other so well. I am so excited to see what their spin off show entails after the main show is over in season 11!
