This is really it… The final episode of the main Walking Dead show and my final trailer breakdown. It still sucks we have to wait until November 20th for the finale, for the cable people to catch up, but it will give me time to breakdown as much as I can going into the final episode of the series. I am sure next week we will get a lot of new Walking Dead content pertaining to news about the 24th episode, the spinoff shows, and/or Rick Grimes involvement with the series. However, this won’t be a typical predictions article because I plan to write a whole separate article about who will die in episode 24 and whatever new content is released next week. I will also be breaking down the trailer in one big paragraph, instead of breaking it up into smaller ones, since I will be covering a lot of different stuff in the next week and a half. Just sit back, read on, and get ready to go on this emotional rollercoaster with me, with even the episode title indicating that this is the end of The Walking Dead. Many characters will be lost, separated, and the show will definitely have a “Rest in Peace” feel to it, but the show should have wrap up almost all loose ends and close the book nicely of my favorite show of all time.
On the surface, we know that this episode will be extended and run for about 90 minutes. This doesn’t include commercials, so I feel like we will get a least an hour of Walking Dead content in the finale. We know we have to deal with Judith’s and Lydia’s injury. Daryl and Judith successfully are going to get help inside the hospital but it seems like Daryl is going to either get injured or knocked out while inside. We see Daryl in the background of Ezekiel’s speech in the trailer, so we know he is safe, but what about Judith. On the flip side, we see Aaron fighting the horde that is inside the Commonwealth, but again, we do not see Lydia. Does she make it to the doctor in time to treat her severed arm? Things do not look great for Rosita. Although she got Coco back, she is visibly injured and is forced to jump to a pipe on a building to survive. AMC is baiting us by highlighting the two characters that she is most connected to (Eugene and Gabriel), cheering her on while jumping, but again, will she survive? Mercer is currently in jail for treason against Pamela Milton, but is seen breaking out of his cell by a explosion of some sort. I think this could either be the means of Max, Yumiko, an explosion from a Commonwealth soldier either letting him out or trying to deal with the horde, or even Pamela letting him out herself. Pamela will be an interesting character to highlight since this is the final fight between Pamela and the Commonwealth versus the group and protestors. She has a huge target on her back by Daryl, Maggie, and Negan, but will she make it out alive? I think this episode’s main plot is going to be wrapped up in the first 40ish minutes, with a sure conclusion at the end of the episode. I think the speech that Ezekiel gives in the trailer will be one of the ending scenes of the show. I hope we get some closure on why Daryl goes to Paris and Maggie & Negan go to New York for their spinoff shows, and not make it like Fear of The Walking Dead and having Morgan leave Alexandra in the season 5 premiere. To leave my final initial thoughts on episode 24, I hope blood will fly in this episode and get a least one major death that makes us go “Wow, I didn’t expect that”, like how I was caught off guard with Judith getting shot in episode 23. I hope this show’s finale doesn’t leave a bad taste in our mouths like with Game of Thrones finale and so many more shows in recent memory. I hope we get a proper closed book ending on the 12 year run of The Walking Dead. Also, you are probably wondering what about Rick and Michonne. Look for the end credit scene with at least Rick Grimes in it, but possibly with Michonne too. Like I said, I won’t give away my predictions about who will die in this article, but look out for that very soon! I will also speculate how The Walking Dead will end and I am sure there will be some more articles sprinkled along the way. We are not done yet with the main show’s content, we are just getting started in the upcoming week!
