If you were looking to see a half silent horror film, you came to the right place. I thought this episode was different than the rest of the season and even different than the whole series. This episode mainly revolved around Virgil and Connie’s experience inside an abandoned house. It was different because half of the episode had no sound because of Connie’s deafness and AMC wanted the viewer to experience what she was feeling like in this episode. During the house scene, it was difficult to see Virgil and Connie communicating since Virgil did not know any sign language. I liked this episode from a horror point of view but didn’t do it for me for the story purposes. I give episode 6, “On the Inside” a 4 out of 10 because do not know how Connie and Virgil met up with one another, Daryl’s storyline with the Reapers was useless expect the final scene, and AMC did not lead us in any direction on what Virgil knows about Michonne, but it was great to see the Kelly and Connie reuinion.
Like I said, Connie and Kelly reunited after a season of not seeing each other. Kelly didn’t give up hope that her sister survived the cave explosion and good thing she didn’t. Kelly saved Connie and Virgil at the end of the episode with Carol, Magna, and Rosita. I thought by the end of the episode, Virgil was dead because of the stab wound that he got while in the house from the people that lived there first. The people there were so far gone. Their mission was to “devour their prey” and walked on all fours. They did not speak and hunted Virgil and Connie the whole time that they were in that house. However, they escaped by using the “guts” trick and letting the walkers inside the house, killing the other people and them escaping safely. I am excited to see what AMC has up their sleeve with Virgil. Kelly and the others know Virgil knows Michonne because of what was written in Connie’s notebook so I want to see when he will tell the others about her, especially Daryl and Judith. My guess has been episode 8 or 9 to wrap up the story with the Reapers and get on with the war with the CRM and the Commonwealth storyline to really pick up. I also want to see the reunion between Connie and Daryl because of their history in season 9 and I want to see if their feelings changed because of Daryl being with Leah. I assume it will not because Leah was around before Connie and I think that Leah is going to die in episode 8 from Daryl or the Reapers anyways.
Daryl had to test his loyalty to the Reapers and Pope in this episode. He had to interrogate Frost to see where Maggie and the others are hiding. Although Daryl knows where they are, he still has to make believe that he doesn’t know them. On the road, Daryl was giving Maggie hints that they were approaching and even saved them at the end by telling her and company to escape the back since they had to open the bunker that was in the ground. The only parts of this that were important were that Maggie and company escaped, Daryl still doesn’t trust anyone in the Reapers except Leah (and the others do not trust Daryl), and Pope killed Frost when they came back. Frost was strung up on the entrance, kind of like how the Saviors put walkers on the fence to make an example out of people. Pope told Daryl that he found out everything he needed to know out of Frost and he left it there. AMC wants us to think that Frost ratted out Daryl and it is only a matter of time before Pope does something about it, but I do not think it is the case because it would be too obvious. You know Daryl will not crack so I think before Daryl will “die” from Pope and the Reapers, Leah is going to try to save Daryl and get herself killed, Daryl will have to kill Leah to prove even more loyalty to Pope, or Negan and Maggie is going to go to the Meridian and save Daryl (which I believe this one to be the most probable choice, with Negan killing Pope). It is crazy and sad that we only have two episodes left before it is the end of the first third of the Walking Dead’s final season, but I am excited for what the last two episodes show us, with that much closer to a Rick Grimes comeback!
