We find ourselves in episode 2 in The Walking Dead’s 10C. Going into the new 6 episodes, we know that most episodes are going to be “filler” but I am still excited for this one. Episode 18 is titled, “Find Me”, with the synopsis of “An adventure for Daryl and Carol turns sideways when they come across an old cabin. It takes Daryl back to the years when he left the group after Rick disappeared as he relives a time that only the apocalypse could manifest” I predict that this episode is connected to finding Rick in the 6 year time skip between season 9 episode 5 and 6. It is set up in season 9 episode 7, "Stradivarius” when Daryl was living in the woods by himself after Rick “died”. He was determined to find a body or evidence that Rick did indeed died but could never find any evidence of it. Carol told Daryl that you have to move past it and Daryl eventually returned home after that episode. “Find Me” picks off right after Rick’s disappearance when Daryl went off in the woods by himself.
The first teaser that we get is from AMC’s talk show about The Walking Dead, Talking Dead. You see in this teaser the best character on The Walking Dead today, Dog! (Side note, he better be left standing at the end of season 11 for the Daryl and Carol spinoff or I’ll be so mad). You see Dog getting Daryl’s attention by barking and wanting him to follow. Daryl follows Dog into a cabin in the woods but sees a mysterious women. Daryl is held up at gun point and is forced to stay there, then it fades to black. I have no idea who this women is and she is never brought up in the previous episodes. Daryl doesn’t even bring it up to Carol when she asked what he has been up to during his time in the woods. I predict that they work out a deal for Daryl to get away safely since this is during the time skip, so he is surviving this episode. I don’t see in his character killing someone he just met, especially at gun point. He tries to help anyone that he sees. For example, like Dwight and Sherry when they met in the woods in season 6 episode 6, “Always Accountable”. Obviously, leaving them alive did not go to plan with Dwight killing Dennis, stealing his motor cycle and crossbow, but leaving him alive helped the group in the long run by having Dwight help them in the Savior war. At the end, Daryl even spared Dwight and in Fear The Walking Dead, he reunited with Sherry in season 6 episode 6, “Honey”.
The next teaser we get is a video from Skybound highlighting a scene with Carol & Daryl. Something feels off with this scene… Usually they have some comedic banter going back and forth. Carol even tries to make the mood lighter with fileting a fish and having Daryl help her but he was having none of it. Daryl has something else on his mind for sure. He seems annoyed that Carol is with him and really agitated. I predict that he is there looking for Connie but is always reminded of how it is Carol’s fault from the explosion in the Whisperer cave. Carol is bringing up the fact they have been lucky to make it as far as they have (They are the last two standing from season 1, if you don’t count Rick). Hilltop is gone but Daryl believes that Alexandra will be running like it was in previous seasons. Their relationship will always be one of the best and Carol & Daryl will always be there for each other, no matter what, but something in this scene definitely feels off…
The last scene we get is the opening 2 minutes of episode 18. Once again, it highlights Carol & Daryl. On the opposite of what I said in the previous paragraph, this scene makes me feel right at “home” with these two. You see their relationship and actor’s chemistry shine in this scene. You see Daryl preparing to go on a run with Dog and he is setting up all the supplies on his bike. You learn later in the scene that he is going to a fallen tree could be used to fix some of the Alexandra’s wall. You also learn that Carol followed Daryl out there to “hunt” but I think she has other plans. She finds a map on the ground and puts it in Daryl’s backpack for later. I think that is a map for the Whisperer’s and where the rest of them are. During the episode, they are definitely going to check out wherever the map says. The duo has comedic banter, which the viewer is accustomed to see with these two by Daryl trying to start his bike but Carol saying he can’t do it and offers her help because she had an old powered, pedaled sewing machine, but Daryl gets it to start. He even lets out a “Woooo”, which is really funny to me. When Carol gets onto the motorcycle, Daryl even tells her that he didn’t agree for her to go. Carol doesn’t care and they ride off to the woods. Daryl also gives her a comment of not scaring the animals and jokingly, instantly regrets her coming along with him on the run.
This episode is supposed to be one of the weaker ones in season 10C but I am still excited for it. It highlights the already outstanding relationship between Daryl and Carol. The villain in this episode I predict won’t be much of a factor and is probably just thrown into this episode for plot purposes not connecting to the whole story. I really want to see this episode to find out where Daryl went to try to find Rick’s body. I also want to find out how much the loss of Rick really affected Daryl because you only saw it 3 times where a loss really affected him. It was with Beth in season 5, Glenn in season 7, and Connie (if she is really dead) in season 10. I also predict that the map will have an importance in this episode and that will be one of the reasons why the mood seems off between Daryl and Carol in the middle of the episode. I predict that the potential loss on Connie will be brought up. There are only 4 more episodes left in season 10C… This one, an Aaron & Gabriel one, the Commonwealth one, and the one I am most hyped for, the Negan backstory one…
