With the Reds selecting right-hander Chase Burns No. 2 overall in the draft, it caused quite the shakeup and many players ended up bouncing around in different slots than most had expected. The Mets were able to take full advantage of that by selecting Oklahoma State University outfielder Carson Benge No. 19. Later in the second round, the Mets selected left-hander Jonathan Santucci No. 46 overall out of Duke.

Unlike last year’s draft which saw Paul Skenes go No. 1 overall to the Pirates, there isn’t an arm this time around who deserves to go first. Southpaw Hagen Smith out of Arkansas, and Wake Forest right-hander Chase Burns are the only two pitchers most see going in the top 10. The Cardinals at No. 7 would be the best bet to take either of them, with John Mozeliak and company loving to take arms in the early rounds of the draft.
