After weeks of waiting, we finally got our season 11 part 2 trailer. This is more than I thought we were going to get in the trailer. I thought we were going to get a mini, 30-60 seconds trailer but instead we got an almost 2 minute trailer. It showed a lot of content that we will see from episode 9 to 16. Season 11 will return on February 13th on AMC + or February 20th on AMC. I am sad that there are only 16 more episodes in this series, since this is the last season. However, part 2 should be even better than part one with the wrap up of the Reapers storyline and the full integration of the Commonwealth with our survivors group. Instead of going scene by scene in this trailer, I will be going over the most important characters from this trailer and predict what they will do in this part of season 11. I group a few characters together because they will have intertwined storylines throughout part 2. A quick note before I breakdown the trailer, where is Luke? No one seems to care about Luke and he has been missing all season 11 and not shown in this trailer either. I am pretty sure he is in Oceanside with Jules but no one from his group even asks what is up with Luke and it is turning into a “Heath” situation of season 7.
Episode 9: The Aftermath of the Storm and Reapers
Episode 9 will pick up right where episode 8 ends. It will return with Leah shooting the fireworks trap at Negan, Maggie, Elijah, and Daryl. You see them all throughout the trailer (even Elijah) so they seem to escape the Reapers storyline. Gabriel even escapes his fight with the other God preacher that he was fighting in episode 8. However, you see Daryl holding Carver hostage and Negan fighting Carver in a hallway. I fully expect Carver to die in episode 9. However, I believe that Daryl will make Maggie and company spare Leah and try to convince her to comeback with him. You can hear Daryl shoutout “No” after Maggie shoots a Reaper and I think that Maggie goes to shoot Leah but she runs away. It might set up a Daryl and Leah reunion in the season finale of part 2 or she will return for part 3. I was fully in the camp of killing her in part 1 but I think she will have a major storyline in the Daryl and Carol spinoff show, after the main show is over.
Episode 9 will also pick up with Gracie and Judith trying to escape from the basement that is being flooded and overrun with walkers from the storm. You see Judith escape because she is in a scene in the Commonwealth later. You also know that she survives because Aaron comes back from the Hilltop and saves her from going through a window. I do not think you see Gracie in any other scene so there could be a possibility of her not surviving the basement scene. You could see a Gracie death and that shift the dynamic of the Aaron character and get him to experience as much loss as he did with Eric in season 8. However, I do believe that she is safe because if they want to do another generation of the Walking Dead; Gracie, RJ, Judith, and Hershel Jr. are the endgame.
Aaron, Gabriel, and Daryl
Aaron and Gabriel’s main storyline for this part will be when they fight the Commonwealth troops where there are abandoned cars and an abandoned bus. This will happen before Daryl and Jerry see the Commonwealth troops at the gate of Alexandra. I think Aaron, Gabriel, and Daryl will not trust the troops at the car wreck and kill them out of fear and from bad circumstances. You see Daryl get a Commonwealth rifle and hit a troop with it. You also see Carol inside the Commonwealth with one of their weapons so maybe Aaron, Gabriel, and Daryl kill all of the troops, take all their weapons, and the Commonwealth seeks revenge from Alexandra from coming to their gate. This will be instead of the Commonwealth coming to Alexandra after Eugene telling them inside his jail cell at the end of episode 7 where he actually lives.
Ezekiel and Tommy
I wanted to highlight them because I really think Tommy is the key to Ezekiel’s survival and they will have an important storyline throughout part 2. I think that Tommy is going to change his profession from a baker to a surgeon inside the Commonwealth and operate on Ezekiel to get rid of his throat cancer by the end of the part 2 finale. I have written a whole another article about this prediction but it makes too much sense not to go through with this. Unless they want to shock the fans and have Ezekiel die in the surgery, I believe that Ezekiel is going to survive all the way to the end of the show and Tommy is going to have a big part of achieving that dream.
Magma, Carol, Rosita, & Yumiko
It is revealed what Magma and Carol’s jobs are going to be inside the Commonwealth. Carol’s is either going to be a baker where Tommy works or working as a solider because she was killing walkers with Daryl where Ezekiel, Princess, and Eugene had to pay back their debts. Carol is going to blend in like she did in season 6 and stay low until she has to show who she really is. She is shown with a Commonwealth rifle so maybe it does get hairy with her (since it always does) but she is probably just cleaning up walkers for the community. Magma is seen being a waitress at a party that Yumiko is at. She is serving drinks to the higher ups at the party. Yumiko is shocked to see Magma as a waitress and that makes me believe that she is up to no good. Magma seems like she is trying to get to the inside of the Commonwealth and does not trust how they do things. She recruits Rosita and I think they are trying to expose them for who they truly are. I believe they will find something wrong with the community but ultimately get in trouble, seek a lawyer to help them escape, and it to be Yumiko.
Eugene, Stephanie, & Lance
Eugene seems like he is in the outside looking in. He is still in hot water from punching Pamela’s nephew. However, you do see him outside his cell waiting for the fake Stephanie with two ice cream cones. He is finally putting together that the girl that he has been working with in part 1 is a fake Stephanie and Eugene made a lost persons board for the real Stephanie. Eugene is going to figure it out by the end of part 2 and finally have his relationship that he truly wanted. The real Stephanie works for the government inside their office as a receptionist.
A quick note about Lance too, he is portrayed as a villain in this trailer and is expressively stressed out. This makes me believe that Pamela Milton is just a figurehead for the Commonwealth and Lance is calling the shots. I think Lance is one of the most important characters for the Commonwealth and the overall storyline that the Walking Dead is trying to achieve by the end of the series. I think he is going to be connected to the CRM and World Beyond somehow. He is going to lead them in the right direction and give subtle hints on where Rick is. This is going to be more part 3 of season 11 but I really want to see the reactions of everyone if they find out that Rick is truly still alive. At that point, Daryl will truly have to decide on his original family with Judith and the others or find his brother, Rick Grimes.
